Dyslexia annoys the hell out of me because no matter how much I try I still
do not understand some of the principles of maths and english. Imagine trying
to do a simplish sum say 24X24 - I personally have no ability to do this, and
I would have to use a calculator, some people for want of a better word "see"
the figures in their head and can work it out. I and many other english/math
dyslexics cannot.
Also I know that Matt says that being dyslexic is no excuse for bad spelling
but what about the fact that most dyslexics spell phonetically as its the only
way they "hear" the word and do not understand quirks of the english language.
I read somewhere a few weeks ago that glue ear (through parents smoking - no digs!) can also play a large part in a child developing dyslexia as it
disrupts the childs ability to form some of the important key elements of
their education through being deaf.
