OGR doesn't need a PPC, in theory. The problem is that OGR-25 stubs are
so damn big - for example, my PPC client has been working on an OGR-25
stub for 3 days now, and it's currently 40% complete. Bearing in mind
that my PPC works at approx 1.7GNodes/sec, and my 060 at approx
0.28GNodes/sec - i.e. it would take my 060 6 times longer (i.e. perhaps
3-4 weeks!) to complete the stub. I dread to think how long it'll take
an 040/25 or 030/25 :) The problem being that OGR is a shorter term
contest, so by the time your 68k has completed a stub, the contest may
be finished, or at the very least, your stub will have been recycled
for somebody else to do.
OGR-24 is different though - stubs take much less time, and it really
is worth using the 68k client on those stubs. The second pass of OGR-24
starts soon (if not already), so the Amiga Team Effort needs as much
help as possible to keep us at #3 in the team stats.
