Right so far.

Actually, the 1541C that accompanied the restyled 64C looked exactly the
same as its predecessor, except that it was cream colored to match the
64C, instead of brown to match the 64.

You're thinking of the 1541-II, which WAS indeed a more slimline form,
owing in large part to an external power supply. But that came even later.
