Hmmm. How would this work I wonder. DVD movies played through a TV
on a proper player can not be recorded to VHS due to it's encoding.
The images gets fuzzed up but the audio remains fine. As an
experiment I tried playing a DVD movie on a mates PC and outputting
to a TV through his Matrox card, then recording to VHS. Again the
DVD would not record. Remarkable!!

As for your idea, the developers would need a method of copying the
files themselves, so would need some software to do this. This would
probably get leaked (like the plans for the PSX Mod-Chip) or some
clever developer could write their own.
