No adverse effects that I could detect. Sped up things for everything a
bit.

I don't remember them all, but some that were usefull to me were:

- standard support for drives and partitions larger than 4 gigabytes

- drivers for recent and current periferals, and improvements to some
of the old ones

- standard CD-rom support

- improved and faster file system, including support for long names

- support for graphic cards

- support for PPC as second processor

- improved utilities of various types

- generally faster and even more stable

There were many others which don't come to mind right now, many of
which were modernizations and code cleanups, and added support for
various things. The appearance was also improved, as was the ease
of use further improved in a number of ways.

Over all, I find it very good and quite satisfying to use. It still
lacks some of the bells and whistles of windoz and MacOS, but it also
lacks much of the bloat and freeze-ups of those two monsters.
