Actually the file it makes isn't a wav, it's a raw 16 bit sample. If you
use Play16, you can hear it properly using these arguments:
play16 tracks=2 bits=16 freq=44100 dh1:temp/mp3out.pcm2

Geez, you can't work that out on your own?? :) I tried to make that work
but I couldn't quite get the timing and buffering right..
