Uhm, most products these days come either as a full or upgrade
option.

Other than M$ who allow Upgrades from Wordperfect, Lotus, Borland,
blah... to their Office products for example ?

So they'll be free then ?

Forcing developers to pay twice so that they can eg test the
claims of platform independance is not on IMO.
