Hi,
Just been thinking about this sidegrade thing, I'm not an expert, I don't
program (graphics artist) so I probably don't know what I am talking about,
but I will try and get my feelings across anyhow :-)
This new OE/OS or whatever you like to call it is designed to be platform
independent, and for this reason I feel when you pay for the SDK you should
be given the right to use it on whatever hosted enviroment you want, as and
when the SDK is available for that OS.
I think the Windows hosted SDK is a great move, however those people who
have already payed for the Linux hosted SDK, and would have preferred a
Windows version aren't all going to be willing to shell out money again.
I can't pretend I know how much work this could involve because I don't, it
just seems to me it would in the best interests of Amiga to enforce the
platform independent nature of the code by allowing owners of the SDK,
versions for whichever platforms they choose as and when the are supported,
either by download or paying the costs to cover an updated cd (which need
not be much).
It just seems some what stupid to me, that developers are charged to run the
SDK on newly supported hosted OS's with a system that promotes platform
indepence, with the end goal of users not needing to pay for new software
versions when they change hardware or the hosting OS.
