Think of it this way: The code that runs the OE under Windows
is totally different from the code that runs the OE under Linux.
They both *run* the same code, but their OS interaction section
had to be totally rewritten. Plus, I think it's also partly a licensing
thing with TAO, since they're really the ones who write most of
the OS-specific parts.
