elate is actually pretty close to what a 'configure' under linux will
generate,.. if you look at gawk, regina, etc you will see that not many
changes are needed to getting a properly working vpcc version.
What elate does not have is and group/password stuff, they are (fudged)
under ixemulng,.. (look on the cvs), things like the exec?? functions can
be taken from ixemulng also.
Fork() can be written out (they uselly only occur once), using system()
calls.
You can even build stuff that needs yacc becaue i have made bison avaiable
like lclint etc..
