Without it, the code is absolutely useless right *now*.
However, I do propose a solution that would work in the future.
Use a tool.
Put that nasty hack code into a tool, say /lib/waitforave.
Then, when the code changes such that there's a legal way
to do it, the tool can change and everything that uses it still works.
