To be honest, I've not had any experience at all with '040's, I jumped
straight from '030 to '060. Actually, thinking about that, I paid £150 for
my Blizzard 1260 accelerator.

See if there is anyone selling an '060 accelerator for about £150 on
AmiBench (http://www.amibench.org) or you could always place a wanted
advert. An '060 doesn't run anywhere near as hot, and is a LOT faster. I
used my desktop 1200 for months with the '060 with the trapdoor cover off.
It did actually start to make burn marks on the desk, but nothing serious. I
raised the case up on four cassette cases in the end.

To sum up, go for an '060 if you can find one going cheap on AmiBench, but
if not, then the '040 :-)

On this topic, was there ever a 68050?

Cheers,
GazChap.
