So the CD is basically OK, but appears to be incompatible with your
drive. We changed CD producers from AACD 12, so it may be down to
something like less-reflective CDs from the new place. If that's the
case, cleaning your CD drive's lens may help. CD cleaners are available
from computer and office supplies stores.

That should work, provided you can read others CDs produced by his
burner. Since he can read the CD, a copy will contain thew correct data,
try with another CD produced on his burner first.
