Hmm, 6.2? You didn't try that dodgy new installation thing? The fancy
graphical one that doesn't work half the time? ;)

Various options. Run xf86config, and that might help. Or edit the config
file yourself (which doesn't seem to work for you). What happens when you
press Ctrl,Alt and + ? (Ok, so it's a weird combination of keys to press,
but it's what X uses to cycle between the available screen modes).
