;-( Just two reasons left for buying it then (MacBiter and Zygote).

Device? If you mean a file ending in .device, then it belongs in sys:devs not
sys:c

How does the Twister handle the device side of things? Does it pretend to
be serial.device unit 1, or does it have its own device?

OK, lets have some more details - like:
Is the mouse serial, or PS/2/serial combo?
Is the mouse claimed to be compatible with, say, Intellimouse or similar?
How many buttons, and how many wheels does it have?
Which drivers have you tried, and have the results been nothing at all, or
erratic/random movement?

I have successfully used a wheelmouse with NewMouse1.2 from Aminet - at
least until I overclocked the mouse in an attempt to make it smoother!
(It worked, but needed a new driver, 'cos the baud rate had doubled ;^)

I use a PS/2 mouse now, with an EZMouse.

All the best,
