Subject:cv64-3d glitchy graphics and now wont work

Hello all,

I just installed a zorro x-surf card and thinking it might've somehow
clashed with the cv64-3d (software = V3), removed it, but still to no
avail...

Usually when I first turn the miggy (A1200T) on, it will start to draw the
WB screen and freeze half way through... After about 3-4 resets, it usually
comes up alright, but the system isn't very stable, and IBrowse often
freezes when I either try to go back to WB or another screen, or when I hit
the back button in IBrowse, or switch to another browser tag/window. This
is annoying and I could only just put up with it; having to reboot about 10
times during my daily browsing sessions....

But now I have nothing. The last thing I had was all these glitchy graphics
(like sometimes after running a demo and the chip mem is all screwed up).
This only happened once yesterday so I reset, and now every time I reset the
miggy, it just freezes altogether, with no gfx on the screen. I have found
it to freeze (snoopdos - but I know some of you use another proggy but I
can't remember the name of it - is it on aminet???) when it tries to load up
the CVision3D from devs/monitors during the startup-sequence, so have
bypassed that in the startup so I can still use the miggy, but now I can't
use any 24bit screens.

I've checked the early startup screen and all my peripherals are working. I
also reinstalled the cv64-3d V3 software just incase the install scripts for
the x-surf wrote over a library they shouldn't have, but it still wont work.
The only other thing I can think to tell you is that the relays on the AMON
don't click either, but I jiggled the plugs around to make sure there was
still a good connection there. I noticed during the cv64-3d installation a
mention of switching with the "NOPASSTHROUGH" option selected will disable
the cv64-3d from switching?!?!? I made sure I had this set correctly.

During some of the freezes from IBrowse, I have ended up with an unvalidated
hard drive (only sys: is FFS, everything else is PFS2), and thought maybe
this may have corrupted one of the cv64-3d files, but the re-installation
would've solved that problem.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated... It's getting rather annoying
trying to get this box to work all the time. Just when I get something new
to play with (last time it was the 18GB Seagate drive) something screws up
with either the existing setup, or the new toy I have added to the miggy...

I've just noticed that the top of WB now says AmigaOS3.0 ECS whereas before
(when I was having trouble getting the cv64-3d to work), it said AGA instead
of ECS.... Is this bad??? HAve I somehow fried one of my AGA gfx chips???
Could that be the explanation for the glitchy graphics and unstable
system??? Damn, ECS is alot slower than AGA & cv64-3d!!! I really only
noticed that it was ECS when I went into screenmode prefs and it only
allowed me to have 16 instead of 256 colours in pal:hires laced and only 4
colours in super-hires laced! :)

Don't worry - it wont be long before I plague you with questions about
getting the x-surf up and running properly :) I'll make sure I read the
other similar messages first though.

Regards,
Richard.
