When anything similar happens here, I boot from the Original Floppy
workbench, Load QuarterbackTools and run analyze and repair on the boot
partition. It tells me that all blocks & files appear OK, and when I reboot
normally, everything works fine.
It's worked many times for me. Just don't ask why. But it's worth a try.
