Subject: | small LAN Probs (PCMCIA) |
Hi Everybody,
I got my Power-Lan kit from Power C today, and I connected it up to my
2 PC network at home (well, this morning it was only 1 PC as one
wouldn't boot, figures ;)
Anyway I installed the software, set the device drivers up and started
the lan software. Everything worked fine, all the PC drives came up
no prob.
So, what's this small problem? I hear you ask.
Well,
a) It uses AmiTCP 3. I use AmiTCP Genesis for internet, oh
dear, once I start the lan software I can't use it :( I tried
changing the script to use the AmiTCP 4 with genesis, but it gives
this error
Host PC1 cannot be contacted!
Can`t get IP address from PC1 (is tcp running?)!
When I try mounting the drives. I can ping the other computers no
problem...
Do I need a newer vesion of Samba or something?
Or, if the worst comes to the worst, how do I stop the AmiTCP 3
running so I can then run genesis? I can't remember what the
shutdown command is...
b) The CC_Reset fix board they sent doesn't work. It's the same with
or without the thing, when I cold-boot the card doesn't work (needs
re-inserting), although warm-booting has no effect on it. Is my 2B
amiga a special case or is the board (that clips over Gayle) broken?
c) How do I share Amiga drives to appear on the network neighborhoods
of my PCs?
d) Can I set up Genesis to use the Win98 r2 Internet sharing? I
haven't been able to experiment with it yet though....
See ya :)
