the other problem might be the drives not heating up enough to allow the
fluid lubricant to work (old, therefore stays more crystalline) the
technique to be used here is the opposite...you actually stick them in an
oven at 50 degrees Celcius for 30 minutes and then use them..they might even
stay okay whilst still being run.
recovered 250G of data from 2 drives that Sun certified as 'dead' once using
this technique
