Subject:HDToolbox - confused of Essex

Hi guys,

Okay, it's probably something really obvious I'm missing here but I'm having
difficulties adding a new IDE HDD to my system.

It's a 1200T with powerflyer, OS3.5 +BB1. Setpatch is set to SKIPROMUPDATES
"scsi.device". I've got a Fujitsu 3.2G as unit 0, and I'm trying to install
a 6G Western Digital as unit 1. The Western Digital was previously used in a
PC and was MSDOS formatted.

To set up HDDs before I've used Faastprep (which I got years ago with
something... a harddrive probably) but I thought I'd do it the proper way,
using tools that came with the OS.

Loading up HDToolbox, I was presented with the Fujitsu (which hadn't been
"installed" according to HDToolbox 'cos it was done on Faastprep) as unit 0
and two WD drives as unit 1. This is presumably down to the flyer, making
one device 3.9G and the other 2G.

I installed both units using HDToolbox and partitioned them how I wanted. I
was then informed that a reboot was necessary to complete the changes. Fair
enough.

On reboot none of the new partitions appeared on screen. In fact, none were
mounted at all. Yet HDToolbox still showed the partitions how I'd set them
up.

Mounter was no help. It only showed the one unit (the first part of the
drive) and I couldn't select it as Mounter couldn't find the RigidDiskBlock.

Am I missing something? Is there something I'm not doing? Am I actually
attempting the impossible?

Cheers,
James.
