I've tried 0xFE00 before, but no joy.

Without looking, I'm pretty sure it is a Seagate ST-something, 1.7Gb. (3.5")

I am using a 3.5" drive and haven't got a cable to connect this directly to
the IDE connector on the m/board, so I may order the newer EIDE interface
for now...
