those are OCTAL addresses and DOOMED to failure!
your addresses should be
192.168.0.1
192.168.0.2
no more extra O's!! it doesnt work like that!

it must be 'crossover' style, unless you are using a HUB

yep, but only between PC's Amiga/Linux/unix/solaris->PC uses TCP/IP

SAMBA is the program to enable non-PC's to talk to Microsoft network. that
is, of course, built into the PC once you have network neighbourhood
installed.

i have one side of my Amiga off. the only wau i can have a 100% fix (rather
than the current 50%) is to send my mb to eyetech to get it fixed thoroughly
a costly option which would be cheaper to find a 2nd hand A1200 for sale and
frankenstein it!
