I think you'll find that ping will just ignore extra zeros so it doesn't
make a jot of difference. I could see that Samba might throw a
wobbler if you used that in a configuration file, but seeing as how my
configuration was all automated it just doesn't matter.

Indeedy, got one now and everything works GREAT! Even my gayle-fix
adpater hasn't fallen off yet!

Nah, wrong cable - mainly. I swear the extra zeros just don't matter as far
as my setup goes.
