Hi there Chris

Right, but I wouldn't agree that webPlug is a good start. I used it for a
while and found learning with just CygnusED, a book and all the browsers
(for compatibility) loaded is actually easier. In fact webPlug is IMHO a
little counter-productive, but at least the author seemed a nice bloke (I
talked to him at last years WOA).

That latest beta of WP had nice context colouring for tags etc, but is
unfinished, unstable- you couldn't trust it. Other options- well:

The supposedly WSIWYG MetalWeb is the pits- never even install it, it will
make your life a worthless shell, a world of pain. If you've ever seen the
film Event Horizon- that hell place is like the kind of code it produces.

So, we're back to text editors that are good for hyper text markup... GoldED
does the tag colours thing, as part of a supposedly great HTML plugin, and
is also a pretty good text editor according to some.

But CED is better. CED has /enormous/ menus and you think it's gonna' be
really Germanic and complicated, but it's very cool for stuff like HTML,
with its multi-window spon-doofery...(sorry if I'm getting too technical ;)

It really is the best all round text editor since Sir Clement Atlee first
ratified the text editor treaty of 1948, allowing widespread access to
previously top-secret source code files which meant the birth of the modern
text editor as we know it (TextEditor #1, created in 1959 by Dr Eugene
Barthel (Olaf's grandad) and used on Sputnik, was the first of these
efforts, BTW).

CONCLUSION.

Use a text editor and a book connected to HTML learning. Create tapes of
your own voice speaking HTML tags to speed up the learning process. Don't
play them backwards. And remember- if you can give yourself a bit of time,
HTML in its basic form is really quite easy to pick up, so don't- give up!
:)

All the best,
