64-bitness? I thought the VP was a little-endian 32-bit RISC? Speaking of
that, I was evangelizing to someone the other day about the new OS, and
they argued that the OS could never really run natively, as it always has
to translate to/from VP. I'm iffy on this argument, IIRC the VP code
always looks for a native tool first, so perhaps on certain machines the
VP code can be almost entirely replaced by native instructions for optimal
performance?
Another argument he had: even if you're running a 64-bit chip you'd still
have to translate down to 32-bit code. Any thoughts on this? Will we be
stuck forever in 32-bit land because of the VP?
