Hi,
While updating my AmigaMPEGPlayer I found a silly thing with the pathnames
of tools:
In V1.00 of AmigaMPEGPlayer I released by mistake the VP-Executable with
the path "xmpeg/AmigaMPEGPlayer"...
I changed the directory path and the program stopped working.
I know that this is caused by absolute pathnames which are compiled into the
binaries.
But now a question to the guys of Amiga:
Do you really want to force a user to use fixed program pathes??
This would be totally unflexible IMO because you can't change *anything* in
your system (sure there is a tool out there which hacks into the path
structures, but this cannot be the final solution!)!
Is it at least possible to use additionally *relative* pathnames?
This way you could use the system tools (which are on a fixed place
like in the classic OS LIBS: -> "absolute path") and also your own ones
in the current directory ("./" or PROGDIR:).
This way you could move the programs without problems and would still have
them working!
What do you think about this?
Best regards,
Stefan
