Subject: | AMIOPEN: GUI (fully resizeable) in the future... |
Hi all,
I've just finished my first wave of my course tests so I have a low
work load this weekend. Now I have a question:
I've seen indirect hints from time to time, but I'd like to ask...
The upcoming 'GUI' system, just how abstract to the programmer will it
be? Now, I'm not talking about from the user's viewpoint, but from
the developer's viewpoint. What can we expect the 'interface' or API
to look like? I assume that the current AVO/AVE monster will
eventually be deprecated or completely removed, correct? Having
written an app under gadtools (a few years ago) and then moving to
MUI, I suppose my point is this: MUI was wonderful to program under,
because the programmer really had very little to worry about with the
GUI, you defined the elements, using vertical/horizontal groupings,
threw in some tags and you were basically done. All the rest was
reacting to attributes/methods as the user interacted with the GUI.
Can you give even a hint as to what kind of interaction the programmer
will have with the interface. I've already seen it mentioned that the
level of interaction will greatly reduce development time...
How much effort should a developer, at this point in time, put into
learning the AVE/AVO system? As I've said, it is a monster.
