Yep, I've come across exactly the same problems when trying to compile
any non-trivial code from the Un*x/Linux world.
(In the port I'm about to upload to the ftp server, I became so fed up
with make and (the lack of bash) that I resorted to ".scr" files with
about 200 characters to a line - not a good approach at all.... :( -
and it's not even a complicated application. )

I'd definetly like to help with bash, but it's not really my area
expertise (not that I'm an expert at anything ;) - but I'm more of gfx
man myself... I'll have a go at anything though, so perhaps I'll start
having a look tomorrow night....

Aaron (the "Optimizer" :), are you still working on porting bash??
