Subject:AMIOPEN: Amiga on NetBSD?

Hello,

So, the Linux is one of the requirements of the Amiga SDK. And at the moment
that's that and nothing can be done, since I guess we normal people just
can't compile the SDK on another system, such as NetBSD.

But for those with the vast knowledge of the Amiga SDK internals:

1. How explicit the requirement of a Linux kernel really is? Is the code more
or less generic so that it would be possible to compile it to another
Unix-like or Linuxish kernel?

2. If linux is quite necessary are the used system calls *very* innate to
Linux?

The reason I want to know these is, I don't own Amiga SDK and if Linux
is such a big requirement won't even buy it. On the other hand I am a
NetBSD user and one of the best comments describing where I'm getting at:

It [NetBSD Linux emulation] works so well its just spooky. Just install
the emulation and It Just Works(TM).

Well, not all of Linux is emulated in NetBSD but the binaries that don't
work are few.

(As a side note, the NetBSD is helluva emulator: on -current one dude has
done Windows emulation. For example the Windows2000 CMD.EXE can be used
as a personal shell... hmm, Amiga Classic emulation to NetBSD/m68k, now
that would be something!)
