Subject: | AMIOPEN: XML and Java, a uncharted territory? |
Hi everyone,
For anyone interested in XML, it may be worthwile to investigate the IBM
AlphaWorks website --> http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/xml4j
IBM have donated their XML parser to the xml.apache.org project. It should
be definitley of value to many Amiga developers who need to work with files,
or data or configs.
The jcode translator is said to translate java to VP, so maybe something you
have trouble to implement (GUI-wise for example) you ca write that part in
Java. Then, use jcode to get your VP and link that into your own tools.
With a Java to VP translated class, reading XML files should be not a
problem. Ofcoz, first the XML parser must probably be translated to VP
code.
The power and the extensibility value of Java plus, the ability of Ami to
translate java to VP is IMHO gravely underestimated.
Ofocz, I simplified the whole process but it sure is possible now thanks to
the java abilities.
met vriendelijke groet,
Michiel Erasmus
