Thanks for digging out those page-references. It seems that they are
trying to fit the stop-everything-and-scan-memory pause in natural
gaps, and they're allowing it to be aborted if anything happens that
is needing attention. This way you never notice. However, what
happens if there are no quiet gaps for the GC to run in ?
I think I'm going to have to get the SDK and have a play.
