Review
If Elite represents the "Star Wars" of computer games then Warhead is
closer to "Alien". Don't misunderstand me, I'm not talking about the plot,
I'm talking about the atmosphere. Warhead is a strange and original game
that goes it's own way very effectively. Initially it's confusing, but
after a little patience you'll see the level of thought and originality
that has gone into the game, it's engine, and the control method.
Okay, you're a pilot of the new FOE-57 Spacecraft, and Earth is being
badly beaten by an insectoid race of aliens from an unknown planet. In the
early missions you'll be doing basic tasks that gradually build your
skills ready for the more difficult and challenging jobs ahead. There are
39 missions in all, and as you progress you'll receive better equipment
and learn more about your enemy. There's a certain amount of "simulator"
in this game, which may not be your cup of tea, but if comparatively
hardcore SF is what you like, then this is one for you.
