I think I may have solved the "read errors" I kept getting (and thus the block errors)

I took the drive out of the 3.5inch drive bay and put it on the bottom of the tower case standing upright, and repositioned the fan (which was sitting on top of the drive before, blowing air out behind the drive, towards the centre of the tower case)

It started to get errors again after being on for a couple of hours this afternoon, but it's nowhere near as hot today as it was the previous days...

Seems to be fine now, and there is only one part of the drive that gets very hot now (can't see which part it is because it's facing the wrong way, but it feels like a small IC). I know these drive have a reputation for getting hot, but I really thought the fan setup I had before was adequate! I guess it wasn't!

Then again, it could've just been the connector and me relocating the drive could've been enough to make contact again.
