Remember Alan, not everyone is as clued up as you are. I know how you must
feel.
I'm a Technician, and I find some things very easy and cannot comprehend why
the Students/Staff cannot perform, what seems to me as simple tasks on our
computers/software.
By the sound of it you have lots of Linux installation experience.
I found it very bewildering to get anything working. I got that X system
working
yesterday night using the RPMS from the LinuxPPC 2000 (1999 Q3) CD (HFS
Filesystem).
I got Michel's XF68_Dev file and used a XF86Config file (cannot remember which
one, since
I had 6 in my directory). Magically it worked. I have had huge help from
yourself and others
on this list. So thanks. Now I may try and upgrade to XFree 86 4.xxx.
Now all I need to find is a amiga-pc-gb.map file that gives me the '|' keypress
;-)
I really need this because piping is a way of life in the Linux shell(s) :-)
Regards
Andy Barker
