Hiya all,
I have finally got fed up with the 'bugs' that I have been getting so I am
considering doing yet another reinstall to try and squash them once and for
all. What are these bugs you are wondering? well....
I have a Apollo 060@66Mhz with the second simm socket installed. 32megs on
the first and 16megs on the second.
Right, first up..
Nightlong (which refuses to register on the Clickboom portal btw, Error 4
all the bleedin time!)
The first example I can think of to demonstrate my problems is this. After
going down (or is it up?) the lift in the bulding near where you start and
get into the flat belonging to erm.. whoever it was. Its the room with the
kitchen. Anyway, In this scene it is clear that Joshua is a polyagonal
character. What happens is that he can walk across the screen and as he
does this his 'body' seems to explode into lots of polygons flying out
towards the outside of the screen. If he is stood near the kitchen bit, his
'backside (bum)' polygon area is stretched all the way over to the left
hand side of the screen (Bifford saw this when he was stopping at mine)
Secondly, Quake - this does the same thing but this time it has the polygons
flickering with thier textures on and off. It also seems to exhibit some of
the problems that Nightlong has. (this is with the version off aminet AND
the version included on the Nightlong CD)
I dont know if it is only ClickBOOMs games that effected by it tbh, because
Payback runs great, Descent ran (note RAN) without any problems and doom
was great (although that aint full 3d is it). Earth2140 is ok, and Simon2
doent have a problem.
If anyone on this list has any of the two clickboom games mentioned and a
Apollo060 card could they please let me know if they are experiencing the
same corruption as I am?
Next time I run Nightlong I will try and get a screengrab to show just what
I mean (assuming SGrab can do it)
I am running a Voodoo3 and thought it could be that screwing it up so I ran
them in AGA and I still got the same effects :-(
Any help greatly appreciated and sorry for the longish (confusing) email!
Cheerio
