When you installed OS3.9. did you do this on a brand new, completely clean
partition, or over an existing install? I had a few problems when I first
installed OS3.9, not with lockups, but with functions not behaving as they
should. I backed up my existing installation and wiped my boot partition
before installing Os3.9. I found that workbench worked as it should once I had
done this. I've had no lockups with any PPC program since installing OS3.9.
