The most probable cause of that is not having AHI set up.
The best way to play MP3 is to set one of the other units (say number
1) to "Fast 14 bit stereo++ calibrated" with just one channel, and to
use that in your mp3 players
If you set it to more then one channel it has to mix down the sample
and plays at a fraction of the correct volume.
Also don't use hifi modes, they're pointless on MP3 files as they
already have mixed stereo channels
Of course, if you have a sound card you won't really have to worry
about all that ;)
