These discussions are the result of H&P's stupid decision to not publish
a list of the bug fixes. My information is that there are lots of bug
fixes.

If it was practical to sell updated ROMs, or if Jens Schonfeld could
bring out his Flash ROM adaptor, you could go back to a simple boot up.
AFAIK there are no supplies of that type of ROM around now. You could
nag Jens at Individual Computers. One would have to make a snapshot of
the patched ROM while the Amiga was running, write it to the Flash ROM,
and that would give a single boot.
Personally, I don't find the double boot a major annoyance. What was
annoying was the Magic Workbench demon making an unexpected loud noise
at random occasions. I'm really glad that's gone in 3.9
