Subject:Grumble about KBD I/Faces

Hello, All
In this time when many Amiga users have Towers and therefore many will also be
using some sort of PC kbd. Why can't somebody mass produce a PC kbd i/face that
supports all button on a PC kbd? I mention this because someone on Aminet has
made precisely that but it requires you to build the i/face yourself and then
use his proggy (on Aminet) to configure the extra keys. This sounds like a
brilliant Idea to me as I have a very nice Logitech kbd and it seems such a
shame to have so many redundant keys.

The second grumble is this. The key remapping on some i/faces sucks. I
personally have the kbd i/face from Power and that's about the best I personally
have tried (actually the only one I've tried). However I have heard of some
really nonesensical re-mapping such as holding down caps lock for ctrl. WHY?
There's a perfectly good ctrl key on the ePC kbd and it's less than an inch away
from where it is on a Miggy kbd. I'm sure it doesn't take that much getting used
to. What I found worse was getting used to the ' key being near the Enter key. I
actually swapped some of the keys around so they are now where the miggy ones
used to be. Howevwer many of us have to use PC kbds at work or some also have
them at home so most of us are already actually used to a PC kbd layout anyway.
Those that are'nt wouldn't hurt to get used to it as they will likely have to
use a PC kbd at some time or another.

Third Grumble: Is the old multi press syndrome. Can this problem not be sorted
out? I often get the problem of the PC kbd adding extra letters to a word or
most commonly putting a ' before AND after a letter. We've got Mouse I/faces
sorted out now and they are almost totally invisible. I also use a Logitech
Trackman thingie and it works like a dream thanks to power's punchinello. Can't
a similarly effective solution be found to make PC kbd's more compatible with
Amigas. Especially with regard to being able to use ALL the kbd.

Grumble over. Thanks for listening :).

Regards
