I have heard this before and the argument is really complete nonsense.
Even if switching on and off far more than would be normal thetime taken to
damage any computer hardware is still far longer than its usual replacement
time anyway.
What's the point of saving a few percent to the lifespan of a board when it
gets replaced by a newer and faster model only a short time into its
useable lifetime.
I did get worried though when in recent power cuts my HD was switched on and
off several times in a couple of seconds before I could hit the off switch
- but that was a totally abnormal situation - and at that point I did wish
the Miggy had been switched off.

I have had some crashes that locked the keyboard before now and therefore
doing the KB reset was not an option :-(
