a lot of code-shops and development groups are unwilling to release games
not because of sales but because of their IP. okay, they are not releasing
the source, but they are giving the product away - which cheapens the
status of their game IP. why?? because a lot of game companies are
finally listening to the public and realising a lot of people want
good/quick/easy games (c.1992 era) and not the latest best-looking FPS or
racing game.

on friday i happened to be thumbing through old AF issues...of the 96/97
era. lo and behold, ThemePark with a glorious >90% review score....it
just wouldnt cut the mustard without some serious revamping these days
(I am loath to play games in 320x240. the graphics dont have to be 16bit
super outstanding, but the resolution for such a game should be a lot
better - Paul Burkeys Foundation shows how modern games should be at least
presentable
ie 512x384 and up for arcade/racing games and 640x480 and up for
strategy/RPG games
