Certainly. And not just Amigas. In 1975 I worked on a "mini
mainframe" (which was water cooled - I kid you not). This had
excellent multitasking, and each task could have a priority
assigned.
That machine was a "Molecular 18" and was made by Business Systems
in Brighton - long since defunct. I don't think it had any "chips"
as we know them today, but it had "logic modules" which were potted
transistor circuits about the size of your thumb. Ours had 32K of
memory on 4 boards each about the size of an Amiga motherboard - or
a bit larger, and we used it for processing financial data and work
timesheets for local businesses to produce "management reports".
