Subject: | How far can you overclock an Apollo 040/25Mhz?? |
Hello,
So far I have managed to overclock my Apollo 040/25Mhz to 33Mhz, but now I'm
pondering on the idea of pushing it to 40Mhz.
Obviously, the heat generated would cause the chip to burn out if it wasn't
cooled. However, keeping the chip cool is not the problem because I
managed to get hold of a nice heatsink and fan for the chip and it is
always nice 'n' cool.
What I am wondering is what happens when you try to overclock an 040 too
much? Does it just simply keep crashing or does it 'explode'? What about
the amount of power they consume?
I guess that trying to get too much from an 040 is just asking for trouble
so I thought I would ask first.
If I chicken out then you might see some nice 80Mhz clock crystals for sale
at the Kickstart show :^))
