Not really. Although I DJ and record (with one other person) music, I never
play or write anything unless *I* like it. No big aspirations to be famous
so what the world at large thinks aint that important to me anyway.
If it doesn't sound good to me, it doesn't go in.

Perhaps if my main hobby was sitting in a sound-proof room listening to
classical music the finer points of sound quality would be more important to
me, but for my purposes two SL1200's & decent speakers/cabling sound
absoloutely crystal.

My 8-bit samples usually sound ok too. The charts were once very busy with
recordings made using 8-bit samplers. 16-bit wasn't available/affordable &
no-one seemed to care about the quality then. Suddenly 16-bit comes out &
8-bit isn't good enough anymore....

All the time, though we usually come to a compromise. (7 years recording
together & no serious arguments yet.)
