You must have missed the threads [Linux - AA17+18 problem!] & [Linux still won't
install]
Lot's of people are having problems, some are just down to lack of knowledge.
Linux installations are something of a Black art ;-). It was easy on my PC using
Red Hat 6.2 (Zoot). Maybe I'll try other Linux distros ?
In my case I had to copy the base2_2.tgz to my hard drive to get it working.
Otherwise it says invalid length and fails to decode.
You've got past that bit like most of us and configured the base system.
I somehow (?) managed to install the files from the CD, but don't know if
it read my HD rather than the CD. I copied the (135 MB) /dists/ to my HD.
I may start again, but aquire an ISO and try from there rather than the
one on AA17+18 ?
It may have been better for AA to simply give us a second cd as a one off ?
