Aren't the heads and the cartridges separate on the Canons? Even if
the ink is new the head could be blocked. Try running it's cleaning
routines, you can often find the instructions for basic operations
like this by lifting the cover.

Does the selftest work, that'd rule out the computer although I fancy
that the heads are blocked.
