On the BJC3000 there are 2 buttons on the front, the left one is the power
button the right one the resume button and in between is the Power lamp.
If you press and hold down the resume button while the power lamp flashes
once, it will clean the print head- hold it while the power lamp flashes
twice and it will print a nozzle check pattern- three flashes cleans the
paper feed rollers.
The nozzle check pattern prints two grids a bit like musical manuscript
paper and using all four colours: Yellow, magenta, cyan and black, about
three lines of each.
Maybe the 4000 is similar, worth a try anyway. Good luck.
Otherwise you should run a programme called CheckPrt from Aminet which will
report the status of the printer (ready, in use etc,) which may help, I can
send you a copy if you like.
