Shouldn't be a problem. The advice I was given on this very list is
that newer SCSI devices will work on older controllers. I have a
8824S on my BPPC (SCSI2) and it works fine.
Eyetech will be able to help you with any cables you might need and
will even make a custom cable for you if necessary for around the £20
mark (that's what I was quoted).

Works fine with my drive.
I cannot recommend MakeCD highly enough, both from a software POV and
in terms of the service I have received from the authors. Get the DAO
version.
With regard to media, Maplin (at least the Watford branch) have been
doing 50blank CDRs for £12.99 for quite a while.
Finally, I would advise against buying second hand, scanning through
MicroMart you'll see very reasonably priced drives (look for the OEM
ones) and you'd obviously get the guarantee and stuff with it.
The life expectancy of these drives is not that long, especially if
they've been heavily used, and you might find it cheaper in the long
run.
