I know it's not the same thing, but I find that using the internal IDE
interface is no quicker (or not much) between 030/50 and 060/50.
The non-difference in speed is probably attributable to the fact
that both systems were running at the same clock speed (which is
what all the signals to the drive would be timed at) and also
driving an HDD by the CPU (as it is with IDE busses) is going to
slow your CPU down due to the HDD being a slow access device. I
know it's got a buffer, but you've still got to wait for the buffer
to get stuff into it. And remember that the PFG needs to be
accessed through the motherboard/expansion slot, which isn't the
fastest thing in the world. Did you ever manage to get your PFG
running at more than 700kb/s? Perhaps there's still a problem there?

Are these old programs (I know Breathless is)? I'd guess they weren't
optimised for the 060 (if they are not, you won't notice much
difference). Even worse, they might be using instructions the 060 does
not have, which then causes huge slowdowns. Try running Cyberpatcher
before running either of these two and seeing if they speed up any.
Also, if you don't have a graphics card, Breathless will be doing all
of it's rendering into chipmem (or at least copying the screen data
into chipmem), which will also stop you noticing any speed increase in
an 060. Not sure if Breathless supports graphics cards anyway though.

No, they're different programs, cpu060 can directly control some of
the 060 specific features. However, most things that you would ever
need to change can be done with the cpu command.

I got a dual English/German manual when I got my 060 from Phase5.
There's not much to it TBH, just telling you how to stick it in the
trapdoor, what the jumpers do and the software installation (run the
installer program from the disk :).
