I had a similar problem on a Epson 400. It seems some inks become
more gluey as they dry out. In my case no amount of head cleaning
helped. I got some success by taking out the cartridge and inserting
a plug of cotton wool seeped in Isopropyl Alchohol in the inkwell
overnight.
